Examination Preparation

Our Examination Preparation Courses are designed to prepare students to take the Cambridge First Certificate in English FCE Exam, TOEIC test, International English Language Testing System IELTS or the Trinity Graded Examination in Spoken English GESE.

Students focus on the skills needed to achieve the best possible results in their chosen exam.

Increasing numbers of English language students find that they require an official, recognised qualification in English. Cork English Academy offers exam preparation courses for a number of internationally recognised exams. All exam courses focus on helping students improve their English language knowledge and skills, while providing a thorough preparation for the exam they wish to take.

At Cork English Academy we run courses preparing students to take the Cambridge First Certificate in English FCE , International English Language Testing System IELTS, TOEIC test or Trinity Graded Examination in Spoken English GESE.

For the Cambridge First Certificate in English FCE examination, we run a 4 week course of 20 hours tuition per week plus 10 hours afternoon guided self-study and timed past paper practice designed to prepare students with all of the necessary examination skills required to sit the First Certificate Examination.

The syllabus is designed to prepare students for all parts of the FCE including listening, speaking, reading, writing, and use of English.

For the TOEIC examination, we run a 4 week course of 20 hours tuition per week plus 10 hours afternoon guided self-study and timed past paper practice designed to prepare students with all of the necessary examination skills required to sit the TOEIC test.

The syllabus is designed to prepare students with all of the necessary skills required to take the TOEIC test and reach a TOEIC score equivalent to B1 to B2 on the CEF.

Our IELTS examination preparation courses are for students who are aiming to achieve a score of 5.5 – 6 in the IELTS Academic Exam.

The Trinity GESE (Graded Examinations in Spoken English) exams test candidates’ ability in listening and speaking. They are one-to-one oral examinations with a native English-speaking Trinity examiner . This exam is popular with short stay school groups.

Course books, workbooks, past exam papers and supplementary material including authentic materials such as newspaper articles newspapers, DVDs, the Internet, books and other media are utilized by the teacher to prepare each student as thoroughly as possible for their exam.
