FCE Preparation

A First Certificate in English (FCE) Cambridge ESOL qualification proves you have the language skills to live and work independently in an English speaking country or study on courses taught in English.


FCE Full Time Course

  • 6 Week Course
  • 20 hour and 15 hour per week options
  • Morning and afternoon options
  • Preparation for Reading, Writing, Listening and Use of English papers with regular timed examination practice as well as preparation and practice for speaking exam
  • The programme covers all four skills and pays particular attention to grammar and lexical areas commonly tested in the exam
  • Additional practice in areas of weakness for homework

·         Exams are held in UCC just 10 minute walk from the school.

·         Please note that the August exams are held the week after the course. Please book an extra week accommodation if taking the August exam in Cork.

·         Students should register for the exam at least 8 weeks before exam date. Late registrations may be accepted after this date but incur a €50 late registration fee.

Prospective students can take a placement test prior to booking the course. To assess levels we will send the school placement test by email to students and have a short speaking examination over the phone.

Students should be made aware that this is an intensive course and they will need to put in a hard working effort to achieve the desired result of passing the exam including completing self study and homework assignments set by the trainer.
